The Survey and Land Registration Bureau, represented by Engineer Fatema Mohammed Al-Busmait from the Marine Survey Directorate, participated in a specialized training course on converting electronic charts from the S-57 standard to the upcoming international standard (S-100). The course was held in the State of Kuwait, organized by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).
The course aimed to enhance the efficiency of national cadres and develop participants’ skills in applying the S-100 international standard, as well as to strengthen their capabilities in converting electronic charts to the S-100 format using the latest global technologies. This contributes to improving maritime safety and the quality of navigational data by providing accurate and up-to-date information for mariners, thereby supporting sustainable maritime economics, reducing marine accidents, improving navigational planning, and assisting decision-making for mariners, stakeholders, and policymakers.
This training comes as part of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau’s ongoing efforts to empower national professionals and prepare them to lead the digital transformation in the field of hydrographic surveying, while enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position in adopting the latest international standards in this field.
