Survey and Land Registration Bureau Issues the “Tides and Currents 2026” Book

The Survey and Land Registration Bureau has announced the release of the electronic edition of the book “Tides and Currents 2026”, with the aim of supporting maritime navigation and ensuring the safety of ships and boats within and beyond the territorial waters of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

On this occasion, Engineer Naji Sabt, Director General of Survey at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, affirmed that the book reflects the Bureau’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the protection of marine life. He added that it comes as part of the continuation of the Bureau’s annual publications, noting that the Marine Survey Directorate continuously monitors tidal movements to determine suitable depths for ports and to ensure the safe passage of vessels.

Engineer Sabt pointed out that the 2026 edition is based on the latest equipment and modern technologies used at monitoring stations across the Kingdom of Bahrain. Sensors collect precise tidal data every ten minutes, which is then analyzed using specialized software to forecast tides and currents for the coming year.

He also highlighted that this data serves as an important tool to support vital sectors such as maritime transport, tourism, food security, and the planning of island and coastal development projects. He emphasized the Directorate’s commitment to updating and maintaining maritime information in accordance with the standards of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), of which the Kingdom of Bahrain is a member.

Interested parties can obtain an electronic copy of the book by visiting the Marine Survey Directorate in the Salman Port area.
