As part of ongoing government efforts to enhance service quality and re-engineer procedures, the Survey and Land Registration Bureau develops the service for requesting subscription to and checking the status of applications for the Positioning Reference Network (PRN)

As part of ongoing government efforts aimed at enhancing service quality and re-engineering procedures, the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) has launched the enhanced service for requesting subscription to and checking the status of applications for the Positioning Reference Network (PRN). The new digital service aims to facilitate and expedite beneficiaries’ access to positioning network services, improve the efficiency of subscription procedures, and further advance the digital transformation of the service.

The Positioning Reference Network (PRN) is the official and accredited network for determining accurate locations and coordinates in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It provides highly accurate positioning services for a wide range of works and projects across both the public and private sectors. The network supports surveying, engineering, construction, infrastructure, and real estate activities, contributing to greater accuracy in projects and works carried out across the Kingdom.

Under the enhanced service, the processing time has been reduced from two working days to just one working day. The application process has also been transformed into a fully integrated electronic process, achieving 100% digitalization of the service, while reducing the number of application steps from five to four and cutting the required approvals by at least 25%. The development has also simplified procedures for obtaining the service and enhanced the overall user experience.

The enhancement also includes the service for checking the status of PRN subscription applications. Beneficiaries can now access the service through the Bureau’s website at www.slrb.gov.bh and automatically view the status of their application, instead of having to inquire via email or visit the Bureau in person and wait for the application to be reviewed. The development has reduced the inquiry journey from three steps to two, transformed it into a 100% digital service, and enabled users to receive inquiry results automatically, instead of waiting for a processing period of up to one working day. It has also improved the user interface and experience, standardized service information across different channels, and reduced the Service Level Agreement (SLA) by at least 25%.

In this regard, His Excellency Eng. Basim bin Yaqoub Al Hamer, President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, affirmed that the enhanced service forms part of the Bureau’s efforts to adopt innovative digital solutions that improve service delivery efficiency and simplify procedures. He explained that the importance of developing this service stems from the vital role played by the Positioning Reference Network in supporting surveying, engineering, construction, real estate, and infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Excellency noted that the network currently has more than 300 accounts and has recorded approximately 36,000 instances of use since the beginning of 2026, with total usage exceeding 22,000 hours during the first half of the year. These figures reflect the significant reliance on the network in carrying out works and projects that require high-precision spatial data and coordinates.

He added that these indicators reinforce the importance of continuing to develop services associated with the network and making access to them faster and easier, in line with the needs of beneficiary sectors and in support of the continuity and efficiency of their operations.

It is worth noting that, as part of ongoing government efforts to develop and re-engineer government services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 services undergoing development and re-engineering across various government sectors. These efforts were based on proposals and feedback received regarding government services through the National Suggestions and Complaints System, “Tawasul,” as well as investors’ feedback and mystery shopper reports evaluating government services.

These efforts have also included the launch of guidelines and Service Level Agreements, contributing to greater procedural efficiency, improved quality of services provided, enhanced beneficiary experiences, and further support for the government’s digital transformation journey.
