23 May, 2011 SLRB Head: ISO Laureate
Manama, Aug. 29, 2010; BNA.
H.E. Shaikh Salman Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Head of Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) received the ISO respective award in recognition of the ISO 27001 winning SLRB IT Dept. for information security as SLRB adopted and implemented relevant state-of-the-art policies and procedures, including information system management, information security, operation, information security-related applications and relevant efforts on equipment and software locations.
Having been thoroughly inspected and evaluated by the German high-profile TUV, as assigned thereto by ISO, the SLRB IT Dept. has received the international recognition. In turn, Ernst & Young (E&Y) played the role of the strategic partner with SLRB in terms of developing information security policies and procedures, and performing the initial evaluation which qualified SLRB for ISO 27001. SLRB well deserved this recognition after strict tests by E&Y to ensure full operability and date security. Consequently, SLRB has become one of handful governmental entities to receive such recognition. "We, at SLRB, have upgraded all e-systems over the 3 last years, thus enabling SLRB to provide outstanding e-services and build a massive and advanced database; a prerequisite for later policies to ensure information security. Receiving such highly acclaimed ISO recognition is but a confirmation that upgrading technologies, systems and e-services is a strategic priority for SLRB," said H.E. Shaikh Salman Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, SLRB head, adding that "this is not the end of the road for us, nor shall we devise a ceiling for our ambitions on development and advancement, particularly when it comes to IT and e-government transition, all of which help achieve the Economic Vision 2030. Constant instructions passed to SLRB officers and staff are to fulfill developmental programs and projects to address the best interest of citizens and investors alike, and to develop ad hoc schemes to facilitate measures and services offered by SLRB at all levels."
On the hand, Mr. Sricant, an official of the SLRB strategic partner, E&Y, said, "For SLRB to win ISO 27001 is to confirm that SLRB now has an advanced high-tech environment that copes with the most up-to-date information security systems, which will enable SLRB to provide advanced and secure IT governmental services."
