H.E. Abdurrahman Bin Ali Al-Khalifah, Director of Real Estate Registration Service met a Delegation from the Qatar-based Barwa Real Estate at his office. The delegation included Eng. Ismael Mohammed Al-Khori and Mr. Fahd Ahmed Al-Kuwari. The 2-day meetings headed by H.E. Abdurrahman Bin Ali Al-Khalifah were attended by H.E. Eng. Naji Sabt, Director, General Directorate of Survey, Mr. Abdullah Al-Ammari, Director, Technical Affairs Directorate, Mr. Khairi Rashed Al-Umairi, Director of Registration and Follow-up Directorate, and Mr. Muhammad Nour Al-Shaikh, Assistant U/Secretary, Common Municipal Services, Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs.

At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. Abdurrahman Bin Ali Al-Khalifah welcomed the delegation, hoping them a nice stay in their second home country. He also paid tribute to the strong ties between both countries and the constant efforts to further mutual communication and cooperation in all fields. Both sides discussed the current boom in areas of urban development, investment and real estate although GCC countries. Afterward, the visiting delegation stated that the meeting aimed at finding about and sharing the leading experience of Bahrain in real estate investments, ownership and usufruct of properties, flats and residential units by foreigners; besides, the extent of potential benefits to develop several legislations that organize ownership and usufruct of properties and residential units for non-nationals in Qatar.

Subsequently, HE Director General of Registration, with the participation of representatives of SLRB and the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs, presented a detailed demonstration of Bahrain's experience in this filed, covering all related governing laws, legislations and mechanisms. In addition, they expounded on requirements and controls of ownership and usufruct as well as legal and administrative powers enjoyed by official and non-official authorities responsible for the enforcement of such requirements and controls. In conclusion, both parties expressed their willingness to conduct more coordination, consultations and exchange experience and visits in this regard for the benefit of both countries.

A lunch banquet was offered by the Director eneral of Registration in honor of the visiting delegation. It was shared by members of both parties, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifah Al-Khalifah, Director General of Resources and Information Systems, Department heads and other invitees. It is worthy to mention that Barwa, which is 50%-owned by Qatar state, has been established nearly two years ago. In a significantly short time it managed to have a strong presence and assume a leading role in real estate investment and developments within Qatar and abroad.
