Mr. Yusuf added, “H.E. Shaikh Salman Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Head of SLRB, gave instructions the book to be printed at SLRB’s expense as a support from the Bureau as such novel publication, which constitutes an added scientific value to culture and history in Bahrain, is valuable in preserving the history of topography and survey in the Kingdom”.
Head of SLRB expressed high regard to the book that documents the history of survey and land registration in Bahrain," he added. The SLRB provided the researcher with necessary support to bring out the book to reality as a vital reference for the public and researchers in this field.
In the preface, the Head of SLRB's word read:s
"Bahrain Landmark in History of Topo and Survey by eng. Manaf Hamzah, Ph.D., is the latest SLRB publication which is an added value to topographical studies and documentation… It is almost a record of the history of survey and Land Registration in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Hence, SLRB has been keen on cooperation with the researcher to document such history through this book…", adding that:
Chronologically, the book proved to be easy and simple despite handling historical issues as well as survey documented studies. It also tackles the Islamic and the post-modern Western civilizations which had their vital role in this respect; an aspect covered through survey history and land registration in ancient times." The book is divided into four chapters in addition to bibliography and references. In the first chapter, Dr. Manaf tackles the history of land registration and survey in old times, ancient civilizations, the Islamic and Western modern civilizations.
The second chapter, however, handles Bahrain on ancient maps and the history of hydrographic survey, in addition to geodetic survey. Topography introduction and beginnings of land registration are tackled in the third chapter.
The fourth chapter however presents the beginnings of surveys and later updates thereof. This chapter provides fully detailed explication of SLRB’s directorates reflecting on SLEB’s directorates: Land Registration Directorate, Topographical Survey Directorate, Real Estate Survey and Hydrographic Survey Office. The author also elucidates the progress within these directorates in areas of survey land registration.
The book includes many pictures and maps which tell readers about the history of survey and land registration in Bahrain.
