On receiving a shield of Honor rewarded to the Bureau on 3 October 2005 in recognition of accomplishing and utilizing the most colossal SQL Database, H.E. Shaikh Salman Bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Head of Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) declared that the Bureau accomplished a massive E-archiving using Microsoft SQL 2000.

 

HE Shaikh Salman received the certificate which was presented by both Sameer bin Makhloof, Regional Director of Microsoft-Bahrain, and Mr. Mohammad Al Qaed, Director of Computer Operations Directorate of the Central Informatics Organization. The event was also attended by HE Shaikh Abdul-Rahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Land Registration, HE Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director of HR and Financial Affairs Directorate, Mr. Yousif Abdullah Al-Ammari, Director of Technical Affairs Directorate and Mr. Yusuf Ahmed Al Mahmeed, Acting Head of the Public Relations and Information and other representatives from SLRB’s Information Systems Department.

 

In his turn, the Director of Bahrain- Microsoft Company praised the great effort exerted by the Technical Affairs Directorate in achieving this e-archive project through the utilization of massive Database assuring the support of his company to Bahrain’s e-government project.

 

The team responsible of the initial data entry for “Deeds Registration Data” had started work since February 2004 and accomplished the task by 23 August 2005. This is considered to be a record time as the team was able to finalize 4 million indexes and refresh applications data from 1980 to 2004 using Structured Query Language.

 

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that  the SLRB”s Technical Affairs Directorate has signed an Agreement of Collaboration with Geomatec - an affiliate owned by the Bahrain Center for Studies & Research (BCSR)- to execute a project that aims at reproducing paper maps into e-maps. This project is a key move to handle information and data efficiently and ensure providing citizens with easily accessible services.
