SLRB employees have recently completed an information technology course in conjunction with the University of Bahrain as part of an agreement signed  earlier between the SLRB and the University to organize a number of training courses and workshops for the SLRB's staff. The agreement envisages providing training courses and workshops by the College of Information Technology of the University of Bahrain to the SLRB staff through an integrated training programme prepared by the college dealing with computer applications for office support staff, senior specialists, technicians and executive directors.

Amal Al Rayyes, Research and Training Assistant at the Management Information Systems Section at the University, which conducted the course for the SLRB employees at the Training Hall at the SLRB's premises in Manama, said the six-week course included learning basics of computer software in three stages and took into consideration all levels of staff in order to ensure development for the staff in using computer software. The material of the course was prepared by a group of professors at the Management Information Systems at Bahrain University.

Amal Al Rayyes said the course is an introduction for obtaining the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) by the SLRB staff, which is an internationally recognized certificate testifying its holder's ability to use basic computer applications.

She added that the course is part of a project to train the Kingdom's civil servants on computer use and applications to enable them to obtain the ICDL, and that the certificate has many advantages, including increasing the efficiency of the trainees in information technology and computer skills and increasing their work productivity. The certificate is also a benchmark for evaluating employees and facilitates the completion of transactions and the provisions of services to citizens easily and efficiently.

Al Rayyes said the course was provided to three groups, and that it included an introduction to the PC and its types, use of computer, organizing computer files and software, in addition to other objectives. She said co-ordination was made with the SLRB on providing courses to the staff, which factored the nature of work of each employee and that they were provided in a staggered way to avoid taking all employees of one section at the same time in order to ensure that services were not interrupted.

Concluding, Amal Al Rayyes praised the SLRB staff who participated in the courses and benefited greatly from it, which helped them pass the examination easily.
