Out of the SLRB's keenness to participate in international conferences and events related to survey, and to keep abreast with the latest developments and with everything new in survey sciences, the SLRB participated in the 23rd Conference of the International Federation of Land Surveyors (FIG) in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany, under the title "Shaping the Change," during the period 13-18 October 2006. The Bureau was represented by Mr. Khalid Mohammed Al Ansari, Director of Land Survey Directorate.

The event was highly attended, with about 1,500 participants taking part from all over the world. The participants discussed 600 working papers which contributed to the enhancement of the status and pioneering role of land survey in safeguarding land borders, as well as following up the experiments and experience of advanced countries in land survey and multi-storey properties, such as flats and apartments, etc. which is considered a new trend in the Arabian Gulf region.

The event aimed mainly to heighten awareness of services provided by the employees of land survey all over the world and of the ideal use of information technology available in developing this occupation of all its disciplines, particularly land survey.

The participants also reviewed the capabilities and potential of companies operating on the global scene and the services they offer in this field by providing technical advice and specialized computer software.
