As part of the national efforts aimed at advancing the real estate sector and supporting urban development, the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, organized a workshop titled “Mechanism for Receiving As-Built Drawings in the Benayat System.” The workshop aimed to familiarize engineering offices with the approved standards and specifications for preparing the new As-Built drawings and to unify the drawing methodology across all offices to ensure the highest levels of quality and accuracy, in a manner that protects the rights of citizens without imposing any additional fees on them.

In his speech during the workshop, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, highlighted the importance of As-Built drawings in providing accurate data that reflect the urban reality in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that adopting these drawings according to approved standards contributes to strengthening urban planning efforts, facilitating service delivery, and enabling relevant entities to monitor urban projects and track development and expansion trends.

For his part, Engineer Naji Sabt, Director General of the General Directorate of Survey at the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, affirmed that this initiative comes as part of the priorities of the bureau’s executive plan to develop a reliable national data system. He also encouraged engineering offices to utilize surveying instruments and modern technology to achieve the best outcomes for all stakeholders.

Engineer Mohammed Al Marbati, Head of Geospatial Data Survey Operations at the bureau, delivered a presentation on the latest updates to the mechanism for receiving As-Built drawings in the Benayat system. He also reviewed the new specifications and standards manual and its significant impact on aligning designs with implementation, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive and accurate drawings to serve all entities.

In a related context, Engineer Faiq Al Mandil, Chairman of the Bahrain Society of Engineering Offices, expressed his support for such workshops, praising the review of laws that protect property owners’ rights, contribute to planning projects, update infrastructure maps, and track urbanization trends in a way that reinforces national integration efforts and supports sustainable urban development goals.

The workshop was attended by representatives of 20 engineering offices, in addition to the President of the Bahrain Society of Engineers and several of its members, along with representatives from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture—reflecting the importance of the topic and the integration of national efforts in developing the urban system and enhancing the quality of surveying data in line with the Kingdom’s sustainable development aspirations.

It is worth noting that As-Built drawings represent a precise compilation of information, data, and illustrations prepared by engineering and surveying offices following field surveys of the external boundaries of structures, including buildings, fences, and main entrances. These drawings are submitted to the relevant authorities in accordance with the technical standards and specifications approved by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau.
