12 April, 2016 President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau Receives Chief Executive of the British Ordnance Survey
The President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) HisExcellency Shaikh Salman bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa received today Mrs.Vanessa Lawrence, the Chief Executive of the British Ordnance Survey.
At thebeginning of the meeting, the President of SLRB lauded the historic relationsbetween the two countries, praising the positive role played by the Britishambassador in strengthening the ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and theUnited Kingdom.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of bolstering jointcooperation between the two countries, including cooperation in the field ofsurvey and the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the fields of survey,mapping, spatial information and training and other areas of survey works andapplications.
The BritishOrdnance Survey is the leading organisation on a global level in the field ofsurvey because of its broad and extensive experience in this field since it wasestablished nearly 200 years ago.
ThePresident of SLRB praised the outcomes of the joint venture between the SLRBand the British Ordnance Survey in the field of developing and standardizationof spatial information formats at the national level. The project, in which all service ministriesand government bodies participate, is a pioneering project at the GCC andglobal levels. He praised thecontributions and initiatives of the British Ordnance Survey in providingknowledge and expertise in the field of 3-D mapping project. His Excellencyfurther welcomed the initiative by the British Ordnance Survey to establish theAcademy of Survey Sciences in the Kingdom of Bahrain which is the first of itskind in the world, to train land survey workers and transfer the Britishexpertise to them.
For her part, the Chief Executive of the British Ordnance Surveyexpressed her thanks to the President of SLRB for the hospitality and warmwelcome accorded to her.
