02 June, 2024 Introductory Tour for Scouts Students at the Marine Survey Department
Based on the concept of community partnership adopted by the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, the Marine Survey Department at the Bureau organized an introductory tour at its headquarters located in Salman Port area for the students of the Marine Scouts team at Hassan Bin Thabit Primary School for Boys.
The students were welcomed and introduced to the department’s sections (the Hydrographic Surveyors Department and the Nautical Charting Department). A simplified presentation was given about the Marine Survey Department, highlighting the importance of marine surveying, nautical charts, the history of nautical charts, and connecting these topics in an engaging way suitable for the students’ age group. The Marine Scouts also conducted a practical demonstration using the Minecraft program to explain the use of nautical markers and the commonly understood language used by seafarers, as well as introducing navigational safety.
Mr. Rashid Al-Suwaidi emphasized the Marine Survey Department’s keenness to cooperate with the Ministry of Education in organizing various events and activities to transfer knowledge and encourage future generations to engage with surveying and marine surveying sciences. He stressed the importance of successfully implementing programs and field visits for the Marine Scouts team, which enhances cultural diversity and fosters students’ interest in choosing educational paths that support the sustainability of this vital specialization, especially since the Kingdom of Bahrain is surrounded by seas.
