Survey and Land Registration Bureau Issues the “Tide and Tidal Range Book 2025”

Survey and Land Registration Bureau has announced the release of the annual Tide and Tidal Range Book 2025 in its electronic version, emphasizing the importance of this data for ensuring maritime navigation safety and optimizing ship and boat routes locally and internationally.

In this regard, Engineer Naji Sabt,General Director of Survey at the Bureau, stated that this book aligns with environmental sustainability requirements and the conservation of wildlife and marine ecosystems. It also caters to the aspirations of professionals and stakeholders in the field. He noted that the Marine Survey Department has been publishing the Tide and Tidal Range Book annually since the 1980s as part of its core role of conducting hydrographic surveys for Bahrain's territorial waters in compliance with international standards. The department dedicates all its efforts and resources to monitor tidal movements to ensure maritime safety within Bahrain's waters by determining the appropriate depth levels for ships entering or leaving ports.

Engineer Sabt highlighted that the book includes tide and tidal range predictions for Bahrain's coasts for the coming year. The latest devices and technologies were utilized to measure tidal movements at various monitoring stations distributed across 12 locations in Bahrain. These stations are equipped with automated sensors that collect data on tidal levels to provide an accurate representation of changes throughout the day, analyzing patterns in tidal movements every ten minutes. The data is then analyzed and compared with previous years to predict tidal movements for the following year using specialized programs. This service is one of the efficient and high-quality offerings of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, aiming to achieve customer satisfaction.

The General  Director noted that the book's information provides stakeholders with a clear understanding of tidal movements and sea level changes throughout the year, benefiting vital sectors such as the economy, maritime activities, tourism, recreation, and food security. It also contributes to a comprehensive vision for studying and executing island and coastal area development projects, as well as managing marine resources. He affirmed that the Marine Survey Department continuously updates its data and marine publications and maintains its marine database according to international standards set by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), of which Bahrain is a member.

It is worth mentioning that the Survey and Land Registration Bureau publishes this book annually, and copies can be purchased by visiting the Marine Survey Department at Salman Port.
